Clinical Care
We follow over 1,100 patients on a regular basis. Our adult congenital heart disease (CHD) activity includes 2 days per week of general adult CHD clinics with parallel adult CHD designated cardiac ultrasound clinics and 1 day per week of specialty adult CHD clinics including pre and post cardiac catheterization clinics.

Natalie Comtois is a graduate nurse from University of Montreal and worked at the McGill University Health Center in the setting of the Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiac Catherterization laboratories. Her passion for cardiology had been notable from the beginning. Her years in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory put her in direct contact with the congenital lesions of the heart and a wonderful population of patients. She joined the MAUDE Unit in May 2006. She is currently persuing a Master’s in Business Administration. She has a keen interest in the coordination and management of complex care delivery teams requiring multi-disciplinary collaboration. She also has an interest in patient education related to cardiac procedures. |

Danièle Cusson graduated from Ahuntsic College as a radiology technologist. After completing a specialty in ultrasound, she began working in Cardiology. She has been at MUHC in cardiac ultrasound for eighteen years. Over the last ten years she developed an expertise in congenital heart disease. Sometimes challenging but always fascinating she thoroughly enjoys working with this special group of young adults. She is proud to be part of the MAUDE Unit since it opened. |
Research
Our specific research interests include the epidemiology of CHD, health services utilization in CHD, echocardiographic assessment of right ventricular function and pulmonary hypertension. Our research is peer-review funded. We have a provincial CHD database of 71,513 patients from 1983-2005. Our team includes a full time programmer biostatistician/Phd student.
